How To Connect Your Printer To Network For Wireless Printing

Overview

Have you ever felt annoyed that every time you have to print on your laptop, you always need to approach your printer, connect the USB and do the thing? Well that’s kinda really irritating specially when you are working on Sala and the printer is installed in the other room. Have you ever wondered that there’s a simple way to make your printing wireless?

Well, setting up a wired printer to make it wireless printing can be accomplished by simply connecting it directly to your wireless router and doing some basic configuration in your windows operating system and router settings. Once you got this setup, your printer will be available to any computer connected on the same network.

By the way, this guideline was established to be working using the wireless router of Huawei which is EchoLife EG8145V5 and an EPSON printer model of L3110 Series. Though these devices may be different from what you have, the procedures are pretty the same on configuring your own wireless printing so you can still give it a try. So here’s how I did it:

How To Connect Your Printer To Network For Wireless Printing

Step 1

Connect one end of your USB printer to the USB port of your printer. Then connect the other end to the USB port of your router. If your printer is using an Ethernet cable, then just do the same connection.

Step 2

Turn on your printer and wait for the device to finish running its own setup

Step 3

Login in to your router. The default IP address of your router can be found at the back of your router including the default user name and password. If you had changed it, just used your own settings.

Step 4

Once you are login, find the settings for your USB port or USB Home sharing. Your router should have now recognized a connected printer on it sown. Since my internet provider is Converge Fiber, this is how it looks like (just click the USB port image in the printer to expand the view):

Step 5

Now go to your Windows Search bar and type “add printer”. Once the option Add a printer or scanner appears, just click on it:

Step 6

When the Printers & Scanners window appear, just click on the +Add a printer or scanner tab:

Step 7

Then after the system tries to find any printer connected, just click on The printer that I want isn’t listed:

Step 8

On the Add printer window, tick on Select a shared printer by name. Then on its corresponding input box, type the IP address of your router gateway plus the port number 631, word “printers” and the brand of your printer in the following format below. Then most importantly just hit the “ENTER” key in your keypad (don’t click the Browse… button).

Step 9

After hitting the “ENTER” button, the system will now start connecting to your printer. Once your printer is found, just select the right manufacturer and printer name of your printer on the Add Printer Wizard window and click OK button.

Step 10

Once the system has successfully installed the necessary driver for your network printer, the window should prompt similar below. Just click on Next button.

Step 11

On the succeeding window prompt, you try to click the Print a test page button to try printing to your new wireless printer or you can just simply click the Finish button to complete the setup.

Step 12

And Voila! On your Printers & Scanners window, you should see now a newly added wireless printer on it similar below. Take note of the name of the printer as you have to select this printer name during your wireless printing.

Realizing the power and capabilities of network and wireless technology, it has never been this good doing your stuffs whenever and wherever you are. Printing your files anywhere you are is truly mesmerizing as you no longer need to bring your laptop close to your printer just to do the job.
