How To Enroll Meralco Biller in BPI




There are so many ways you can pay your Meralco bill. All have their own advantages as well as disadvantages. For example, if you don’t have online accounts nor Credit cards, you can pay cash directly to SM Bayad Center but you have to  queue in a long line. The good thing about SM Bayad Center is that they are now accepting  Meralco bills which have overdue date. On the other hand, you can also use the Meralco mobile app to pay your bill but you need to have a credit or debit card account for online transaction (check out this site for Meralco App payment). Nevertheless, still nothing beats going for the online option for it offers hassle-free transaction. 
Nowadays, Meralco has listed so many payment channels as well as online banking partners to which you can can make your online payment. One of these banking partners which I’m going to share is the BPI online banking. However, before you can make your online payment thru BPI, you will need to enroll first the Meralco merchant as your biller in your BPI online account.
Here’s how it’s done:
  1. First, login to your BPI account online here.

  2. Once logged in, click the OTHER SERVICES at the left pane of the window.

                                                                                                                         

  3. Then click Manage Recipients under Recipients menu. (see below image):

  4. At the upper right corner of the panel, click + Add New Recipient.

  5. Under Recipient menu, select Billers. Then select MANILA ELECTRIC COMPANY| MERALC under Biller menu. For Reference Number, input your 10-digit account number found in your Electric Bill Account summary then click Next button.

  6. Then you will be redirected to a page wherein you need to verify the details of your transaction, click the Confirm button if your input details are correct.
  7. For BPI security purposes, a 6-digit code (OTP) will be sent to your enrolled mobile number, just click the Yes, send me the code button.
  8. Once you receive your OTP code via SMS, input the code to verification panel similar below then click Submit button :

  9. If verification of your OTP is correct, your enrollment will be successful. Refer to image below. Just click Done button to close this section.

  10. And Voila! You will now see your newly enrolled MERALCO bill under you enrolled billers and can start paying your electric bill.

  1. i have successfully added MERALCO in my Billers list. Unfortunately, when I was trying to make payment, i have received a message that the transaction failed, please see your payment details. I have tried several times but still failed. What could be the error? The bill is not on my name.Thanks

  2. Same here… bill is not under my name but i have successfully enrolled the biller. But making payment, it mentioned i cant. There is problem in the details. What can be the prob? Are there limitation? Max amount perhaps? Over due? Looking forward from hearing from you specially in this time of health concern, wanting to minimize going outside and enjoying online banking. Thanks!

  3. How long does it take for the payment to post? I made a payment on Monday using BPI online bill pay but 2 days have passed and it's still not reflected on my meralco account.

  4. This not helpful every time to proceed to payment transaction i recieved faild ill try 3x kindly fix this issue instead of fast transaction it been cause of irritated.

  7. Is the last 5 digits of atm/phone reference in meralco bill the additional reference required in the online payment? Its been working before but now it gets "failed transaction". Can bpi fix this fault issue? Thanks

  8. Has anyone experienced an error that the reference number is incorrect? I have tried paying through BPI Expressonline and Gcash but it seems that the reference number is invalid. Thanks in advance for the help!

  9. Make sure that the reference number is correct. You will find it in ATM/Phone Reference No.
    Just put only the last 5 digits without space.

  11. Please take note you cannot pay past-due billing for Meralco in BPI Online. Hence, you can try to pay it directly from the Meralco Website, login and use your BPI ATM Card (master card or visa card). Make sure that you enable the E-Commerce Access via card control since this is off by default in your BPI Mobile App to use your card to pay online. You can turn it off afterwards anyway.
