What is Spam Email?
Spam refers to an act of sending same messages indiscriminately across random and large number of recipients . The same meaning goes to when applied to Emails and other forms of digital communication. Spam message or spam email is also known as junk email because it has no significant content, rather than the purpose of sending the message to overwhelm random recipients with bulk messages.
Why Does Gmail Tag An Email As Spam?
Google has implemented systems to control and filter potential spam messages to protect Gmail recipients. Spam emails could convey malicious contents, links that lead to websites with phishing activities or attachments that host to malwares. All these are for the purpose of exploiting or bringing harm to recipients or their PC’s. But to how Google determines whether to tag a specific email as a spam or not is out of my league.
Why Do I Need To Disable Spam Filter?
I would say that Spam filtering of Gmail is not that accurate. I have already witnessed more instances wherein Gmail has mistakenly tagged a safe email as spam. This inaccuracy could lead to filtering out innocent messages and eventually lead you to missing out important and expected emails. This scenario is really unfortunate most specially if you are expecting an email from a person not in your contact list. What if the email was sent from a company you recently applied for informing you about a good news? Or from a potential business partner or client offering you a good deal? Isn’t it frustrating to miss all those golden oppurtunities that could only come along once in your lifetime? Worst of all, email messages that have been in Spam folder for more than 30 days will be automatically deleted and you’ll never even get the chance to read them.
As a starting blogger, I keep on checking my inbox for any notification from my website if there are any comments or queries from my visitors. However, to my surprise, I found out that all the new comment notification emails have been stashed in my spam folder including the WordPress emails regarding the plugins update. It’s a little bit annoying because I’d been checking my Inbox for new emails everyday only to find out that they were only in my spam folder the whole time. When I opened my spam older, I was devastated to learn that I missed all those comments from my site visitors, some to which comments were already few months old. For me, these comments from my visitors are very significant to the growth of my site. The more I become active in responding to my visitor, the more visitors will get engaged to my site. And the more my audience grow, the more revenue there is. So disabling this spam filter will really be helpful to eliminate the chance of missing those opportunities. And this blog will guide you in doing so.

Final Thought
This procedure is only recommended for types of Email dedicated for commercial use wherein you are expecting to receive emails from people not in your contact list. For my blogging purposes, I created a dedicated email for receiving emails from anyone who tries to reach me from my site. One which spam filter is disabled. Nevertheless, I suppose that there could be WordPress plugins available out there to deliver simpler solutions instead of disabling the spam filter. A plugin which is more rigorous in determining real visitor of your blog from spammer. But this procedure in my blog is also applicable to those who are in small business using only a Gmail and/or no hosting site. Most importantly, please have your separate personal email not configured in this way to prevent from getting attacked by real spammers.
