In this guide, we’ll walk you through the process of returning and refunding an item on Shopee, ensuring a smooth and hassle-free experience.

On this blog, I will be sharing my personal experience on how I returned and refunded the item I bought from a Shoppee seller. The item I bought was a grass cutter unfortunately, when I tried to used at home to trim the grasses in my garden, it can’t cut the grasses at all. So I immediately contacted the seller thru chat and by sending them a short video as my proof that the unit does not really work, they agreed to let me return the item to them for a refund. Before I we go to the returning process, let’s check the valid reasons for returning and refunding an item bought from Shopee:

Reasons for Returns and Refunds:

There are several valid reasons for requesting a return or refund on Shopee, including:

  • Damaged Item – If the product received is broken, dented, scratched or shattered.
  • Missing Quantity/Accessories – the parcel received is empty, parts of the item are missing or order was delivered incomplete.
  • Received Wrong Item – If the item delivered is different from what you ordered or doesn’t match the description or images on the product page
  • Faulty Product– If the product received does not work according to its function or description or simply defective

Now let’s start the returning and refunding process:

How To Return or Refund From Shopee

Step 1

First, open your Shopee mobile app in phone and login to your Shopee Account:

Then on your “Me” page, click the “To Receive” button:

On the following page, locate the order containing the item you wish to return and refund then click on it.

After clicking the item, scroll down to the bottom of the screen then Click the “Return/Refund” button.

On the next screen, select the scenario which fits your case. Since I received my product but it has an issue, I selected “I have received my items but there are issues“. (But if you did not receive any item, you can select the other issue next to it)

On the following screen, click the “Reason” tab then select the reason for returning and refunding the item (I chose Faulty Product here) then click “Confirm” button. On the “Description” tab, describe the defect of the item you received. Then below it, upload a corresponding short video and a clear photo of the unit showing its defect as proof. Once you have filled in the necessary information, you may now click the “Submit” button.

On the next page, click the “Select Shipping Option

Then select your preferred shipping option. Here I selected the “Drop Off” option since there is a nearby J&T Express branch in my location and using this option I did NOT spend any amount during the shipping process. Once you selected your option, click the “Confirm” button.

After confirming, your are now ready to drop off you parcel. Just click the “Download” button to view and get a copy of your return label as you will be needing it to present to J&T branch during your drop off.

Once your parcel are now re-packed properly and ready for shipping, go to the nearest J&T Express branch and drop off your parcel for return. They will be printing the label for your parcel and they will give you a copy of your tracking number. Take note that you won’t be paying any fee during this transaction. After drop off the item, inform the seller thru chat that you have already shipped your parcel for return and refund.

Once the seller receives the returned item and confirms your claim, they will initiate the refund process and it will be credited back to your ShoppePay account. You can also track the status of your refund in the “My Purchases” section of your Shopee account. If you encounter any issues or delays, you can reach out to Shopee’s customer service for assistance.

And Voila! At the same day I dropped off the item, I also received the refund amount in my ShopeePay account.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long will the refund take place?

For Refund only, you will be refunded once Shopee approves the request.

For local market place, the seller has a maximum of 3 days to respond and complete the quality check of the item from the time the parcel was received by the seller.

For Shoppee Mall and Overseas, once the Shopee Warehouse has received and validated the returned item, your refund will automatically be credited to you.

When can I ship out my item for return and refund?

After you have requested to return and refund you item via Shopee mobile app, you need to make sure to ship out the item within 5 days. Failure to ship within 5 days will automatically result in the cancellation of your return and refund request..
