How To Cash In To GCash Using Your Metrobank App

Another feature of Metrobank mobile app that we will discuss today is the money transfer from itself going to Gcash. Metrobank is one of the facilities that we can use to cash in to our Gcash account/e-wallet. But why still need to use Gcash if we can simply use the Metrobank mobile app?

Well probably because of two reasons: security and convenience. Isn’t it frightful to use your ATM for online transaction wherein you give your ATM card number and CVC (card verification code) for your online transaction? What if you end up in a phishing website? And the next morning you learned that all your hard-earned money was already stolen from you or used extravagantly for someone’s online shopping?

Aside from security, e-wallets like Gcash offers convenience in use. You can pay bills directly to Gcash without the need for enrollment first of the merchant or biller. And there are lots more that Gcash has to offer when it comes to online transaction which are not present in Metrobank mobile app yet. That’s why they are called e-wallet. Because it is meant mostly for online transaction that involves E-cash.

Now are you excited to use your Gcash for the first time? Let’s start by cashing in or transferring money to it. This post is meant to discuss it using your Metrobank online banking thru its mobile app.

Here’s how it’s done:

How To Cash In To Your GCash Thru Metrobank App

First, click on the Metrobank Mobile app in your phone via its icon as shown below:

Then log in to your account by typing your Username, Password and clicking the LOGIN button.

Once you are logged in, click the option icon in the upper left most part of the screen as shown encircled in yellow below:

When the options drop down, select and click MY BENEFECIARIES.

Then on the upper right corner of the screen, click the Add or “+” symbol encircled in yellow below:

At this point we are going to enroll our preferred Gcash Account to our Metrobank mobile app for convenience in Cashing In to Gcash in the future. To continue, just select GCASH in the Bank option. You can nominate your preferred Alias to this account at your own liking then supplied all necessary details to succeeding blanks. For the account number, input your GCash account number or the Gcash mobile number .Once your are finished, click the SAVE button at the lower right corner of the screen.

After clicking the SAVE button, Metrobank system will send an OTP to your Metrobank nominated phone number for verification of this enrollment. Just enter this OTP to screen prompt of Metrobank Mobile App as shown below then click the SUBMIT button. (your OTP will be different from what is shown below)

Once OTP is verified, your newly enrolled Gcash account will be shown under your My Beneficiaries tab as shown below. Now we are ready to Cash In to this Gcash account. Just click your Gcash account and click the ACTION button.

Then select your preferred type of money transfer. Since only instaPay is available in the option, just click the Transfer funds via instaPay tab.

Then on your account list, select your nominated Metrobank account that will fund your money transfer to GCash.

For the transfer details, input the amount of money you want to transfer to GCash account. Then click NEXT button.

For verification purposes, confirm all the details pertaining to your Gcash transfer as summarized below. If all else are correct, then click SUBMIT button.

After clicking the SUBMIT button, Metrobank system will send another OTP to your Metrobank nominated phone number for verification of this Gcash transfer. Just enter this OTP to screen prompt of Metrobank Mobile App as shown below then click the SUBMIT button. (your OTP will be different from what is shown below)

After the OTP verification, your transaction is now under process as shown below. Just wait for SMS from Metrobank once the Cash in to Gcash is completed. Click OK button to close the transaction.

Afterwards, you will received 3 SMS notifications from Metrobank as similar below. One is for notification of this transfer as under process, the other one is notification for successfully completing the transfer and the last one is the generic Metrobank greetings for this transaction.

Likewise, Gcash will also send SMS notification to Gcash account number (mobile number) which received this Cash in. Below is the sample SMS notification from GCash:

Final Thought

Metrobank is my payroll account at which my salary is credited. So I frequently use my Metrobank Mobile app to fund my Gcash account which then serves as my primary e-wallet for all my online transactions.
